Reverse Engineered Object: Selection
The three objects are a pen, a case for a compass, and a compass. I chose a compass and its case because they are complex but not too hard to build in Rhino. I pick a pen as a simpler option if the compass is too hard to make.
Pattern Making
Pattern Making Design Process This design is inspired by fabrics and notebook covers. I took some parts of them and connected them like a puzzle. The triangle and diamond shapes were attractive to me. The final pattern is mostly geometric shapes and leaf shapes. I tried to combine geometric and leaf shapes, then found out that making the leaf shapes more geometrically and placing them beside each other has the most visual harmony. And I used eight colors to make it vivid and joyful. Exploring drafts These were the parts I drew down from the photos.
